Hi! We've just received a letter from the Foreign Office: an invitation to come pay for and claim our Duldungen.

However they didn't tell how to do it (like should we get a number or do we proceed immediately to the person who sent the letter or where to pay).

To be honest, I am a little nervous. What if we go there and then there'd be police waiting for me? They might take me away to a holding centre to be deported. Take note: our identities are clear, but of some reason, before we brought our appeal to OWG, the Foreign Office issued me an invitation to a repatriation counselling last year. That made our lawyer very angry so they stopped harrassing me. Now that I am about to get my Duldung w/my husband, I am having thoughts of me being taken away and separated from him. Please help me! I need reassurance that this won't happen.

Dear @someoneingermany

Welcome back to the Wefugees Community and thank you for reaching out to us.

It is a bit difficult to answer your questions without knowing your situation/background better. However, since the immigration office explained already to issue a Duldung, it should be a good sign.

Authorities can send the invitation letters for the voluntary return counselling quite randomly and without a specific trigger. At times authorities even hand out information letters on that kind of services before the asylum interview ("Anhörung").

However, if you worry too much, I can recommend you to consult a migration counselling office for some legal advice and/or psycho-social support. This will be the best option to discuss your case individually and confidential.

Please also don't hesitate to get back to us with any further questions.

All the best,

Meike

Hi @meike! Thank you for responding to my question. Our background is this: we've been here in Germany since 2017. Our asylum process has ended last March — the OWG has rejected our appeal outright and with finality. My husband is currently employed as a programmer for almost two years now with his current employer. I, on the other hand, am a housewife with a B1 certificate and has attended Uni here as a guest student for two terms. Our passports are currently not with us as we surrendered them to BAMF upon applying to become asylum seekers.
