Dear godstime,
thank you for sharing your question with the Wefugees community.
As I wrote a few days ago here (https://***.wefugees.de/814947/about-the-chancen-aufenthaltsrecht), stays abroad which didn't exceed three months are legally innocuous. They do not endanger the five years' period of living in Germany you need to prove in order to apply for the new residence permit according to § 104c Residence Act.
If a person has been absent for a longer period, e.g. because they shifted their centre of life, underwent a Dublin transfer, departed voluntarily or applied for asylum in another EU-state, they won't be eligible for a residence permit according to the new law.
Hope this helps. Please come back to us if you have further questions.
Best regards,
mbeon-Christine
