Hi,

I am 27 years old and have 3-year subsidiary protection.

I want to adopt myself (Erwachsene Adoption) from a German Family.

My question is how can I do that? How to find a family and whom should I contact to help me find a family?

I live in Duisburg, NRW.

I have money, an apartment for living etc, the only thing I need is to find a beautiful family and in that way, I want to improve my german skills and also will be able to learn more about the German culture and way of living.

Thank You

Dear @Abdulwkl,

Welcome back to the Wefugees Community and thank you for reaching out to us again.

I am not really familiar with the procedure of adult adoption in Germany and tried to make some research. You can find some details on the process here (in German though), for instance. As far as I understand, a court needs to approve the adoption and checks the reasonability of the application. All in all it is not an easy process and I think "finding" a family for adoption is a quite difficult approach.

Nevertheless it is a very good idea to get more in contact and interact with German people in order to build a network and to improve German skills etc. Do you know the "Start with a friend" programme? Registering and participating here could be another option to get to know people. Maybe there are also volunteering networks in your region. If you like to share your rough location, I am also happy to make some further research.

All the best,

Meike
