Hello

Cannot get an id from my country, difficult, they won't recognize me and alsowhen I applied for chancen, they send the answer 5 months later wich they remove from the 18 months. So I looked for work, then had an accident, was at the hospital and when I got better, got another job. Now, 5 months left and can I get a prolongation of the deadline ?

Is the id an obligation ? Was here for years, working and they gave me duldung light because of not having an id. Lawyers cannot help.

Any suggestions ?

Dear @crocs,

Welcome to the Wefugees Community and thank you for reaching out to us.

Yes, unfortunately it will most probably be a big issue for many people who are trying to obtain a passport within these 18 months of holding a residence permit according with section 104c.

Pro Asyl is writing the following on this topic (translated from German):

"The identity and nationality should be clarified and the passport should be present at the latest for the transition to the residence permit in accordance with sections 25a and 25b of the Residence Act. If all steps to clarify your identity have been taken but have been unsuccessful, the immigration authority can, at its discretion, waive the clarified identity requirement (see Section 25a Paragraph 6 Residence Act, Section 25b Paragraph 8 Residence Act). Beneficiaries of the "Chancenaufenthaltsrecht" must be informed by the immigration authority of specific duties to clarify their identity and obtain a passport, which must be fulfilled in a reasonable manner, at the latest when the residence permit is issued in accordance with Section 104c of the Residence Act (see Section 104c Paragraph 4 Sentence 1 and 2 of the Residence Act)."

Have you been informed on these "specific duties" and steps you have to take in order to prove that you tried everything to obtain a passport? If you contacted already lawyers (and they said they can not help), you may consult a refugee counselling office as well for individual support.

Do you agree dear @mbeon-fardeen and is there anything you would like to add?

In any case, please don't hesitate to get back to us with any further questions.

All the best,

Meike
