Hello,

My family and I have been seeking Asylum for 1,5 years, in the meantime i became 18 months ago and I want to withdraw asylum and go back to my country. We have not got interview and case is still pending. We are currently living in a asylunterkunft. Im from a country which is probably getting safe status in near future. However I'm not sure if my decision will affect my familys proceedings.

- As i became 18, I know that my case is being reviewed independently and I no longer belong to my parent's case. Can I withdraw my Asylum myself without my parents having to do so?

- My decision is purely based on urge to fight against opression in my country, but will the auslanderbehorde simply use my withdrawal as a argument / influence to reject case of my parents?
- i want to keep learning German when I go back, is there any Organisation that could specifically help me pay for example for goethe courses in my country?
- will I have any problems coming back to Germany after this? Or will it stay in record for my possible visa applications later?

I wish you successful year and thank you very much. I would appreciate fast reply as I might miss the deadline

Hi @Andrey_Malk

As you are over 18 and have your own individual asylum case, then you can withdraw it yourself.

It is not the Ausländerbehörde that decides on an asylum application but BAMF. I cannot say whether you withdrawing your case will have an influence on your parent’s application. You would need much more in-depth advice on this but basically you have to consider whether any aspect of their fear of persecution in your home country is related to you.

I advise you to have a **** at the REAG/GARP programmes on offer by Germany. These provide financial assistance to people who withdraw their asylum applications and wish to return to their home country. It can help with travel costs but also a one-off payment which you could use to finance German courses. Here is the information in English (it is also available in other languages):

You have to first contact an advisory service if you wish to apply for this. There are also additional programmes in specific countries. Here you can see if there are any such programmes in your home country:

A re-entry ban (Einreisesperre) only applies if a person has been deported from Germany. If a person voluntarily leaves Germany, this does not apply.

Best,
