My last name is changed due to divorce. I am a non EU citizen and the divorce took place in my home country. Now if I change my passport in Germany, it will be issued with my new last name. For the residence permit renewal, do I need to show any documents about the divorce, or would it be simply done if I bring my new passport in?

Hi @Mehtap

Whether you need to show documents about the divorce depends on the type of residence permit you have. If your marital status is relevant to your permit, then you will have to show documentation about the divorce. Otherwise, just show them your new passport. The authorities will inform you if they need to see anything else.
