As asylum seeker in the UK can I locate to Germany to get married?

Hi everyone,
I am an asylum seeker waiting for my asylum to get approved in the UK and my girlfriend is seeking asylum in Germany. It isn't too long since she claimed her asylum there and still living in a camp. Is it possible for me to relocate to Germany and get married and seek asylum there instead of the UK? If yes, will the migrant-help help me move there?

Welcome to the Wefugees Community and thank you for reaching out to us. 

Unfortunately, I’m not aware of any option for you to move to Germany for the time being in order to marry.  In German law, family (or spouse) reunification is only possible after the asylum application of the person in Germany got accepted. Even then, it will depend on the person’s status - people who receive a subsidiary protection, for instance, can not reunite with their spouse in Germany if the marriage was conducted after the person (now residing in Germany) initially left the country of origin. I am afraid that you need to wait for the outcome of your asylum procedures to have a better picture of your options. In the best scenario, your partner will be recognized as refugee which comes with some privileges in that sense.

Thank you for your answer Meike,
Can I ask about the privileges the refugee gets in case of marriage? Besides after my girlfriend gets her asylum granted and she applied for me to join her, does that mean I am going to be in the same status as her or am I going to get less benefits because I didn't claim my asylum in Germany the first place?
