We are a family living in an accommodation but recently we had problems with lthe andlord. I would like to move to another apartment. However, I believe it should be difficult to find a house as an asylum seeker, even though we earn our own money, we are not dependent on LAF. For example, last year we applied for WBS, and they did not give it to us telling that our ID expires in less than a year. What is the chance I can move to a new house with 2100 EUR net income?

Dear @gsbsugala,

thank you for sharing your question with the Wefugees Community.

If you have already rented an apartment/house and you have the permission from the Social Welfare Office/Foreigners' Office to live outside a refugee camp, it depends on the landlord of the new apartment/house you are applying for, the city, in which you are looking for an apartment/house, the number of persons in your family and the amount of your income, the duration of the validity of your (temporary) residence permit and the level of competition among the applicants for the apartment/house.

Considering the above factors, mostly in big and densely populated cities, where the level of competition among the applicants is higher, it is much more difficult for you to find an apartment/house. Because in such cases the landlords mostly choose among the applicants, the one with the highest income and the most secure residence status in Germany. But, of course, in some cases the chemistry between the landlord and the renter and the feeling of the landlord concerning the situation of the renter plays a crucial role.

However, if you live in a small or a rural city, where the prices of the apartments/houses are low and it is not a densely populated city, you have more chance of finding an apartment/house for you.

The best way for you is to just **** for some apartments/houses in your city online and visit some real estate agencies in your city, compare the prices and just contact some landlords about it and see what your chances are to find an apartment/house, considering your income and residence status.

I hope, I could have helped you find a good solution for this problem. I am a MBEON consultant. If you wish to contact me directly, you can have a **** at my profile and follow the instructions there.

Best wishes
