Hello,

My family and I were assigned 2 years ago to an apartment that is managed by Diakonie. Yesterday they broke into my home while no member of my family or I was present, they did that only to bring in a crib not was an emergency, also this was done without my authorization and without my knowledge. Nobody called me or asked me if they could do it. Is it legal in Germany to break into people's homes without their permission? I feel outraged that they violate the privacy of my home in this way, it seems disrespectful to me and now it leaves me wondering how many times they have entered without my knowing it

Dear @Faga0206

Welcome back to the Wefugees Community and thank you for reaching out to us.

I am sorry to hear that you made this uncomfortable experience and I can understand very well why you are not happy with the situation. In a convential tenancy, landlords are not allowed to enter the let apartment without the permission of the tenant or without emergencies/urgent reasons. I am afraid, however, that the type of housing in your case may not be "covered" by the usual regulations in this area. I don't know the specific circumstances, but as far as I understood, the flats are maintained by the organisation and social workers are supporting you in your daily life, right? In any case, I would recommend you to seek the dialog with the employees in charge and explain about your experiences and your feelings. In many facilities, so-called complain mechanism structures ("Beschwerdestelle") were established. Staff working in the complain mechanism would be the ideal points of contact for you.

I hope you can solve the issues as soon as possible in order to feel comfortable in your home again and also don't hesitate to get back to us with any further questions.

All the best,

Meike
