Dear @HagiM,

Welcome to the Wefugees Community and thank you for reaching out to us.

If you are referring to the procedure of the declaring of the fatherhood (Vaterschaftsanerkennung) at the "Jugendamt", I am not sure if this is actually an "interview". Please see also the answer given here in this thread for more general information on this topic.

From my experience (in Berlin), the Jugendamt wants you to present the following documents:

  • ID cards/passports of both parents
  • Registration certificate (Meldebescheinigung or "Anmeldung) of both parents
  • Proof of the child's birth, i.e. birth certficate, a proof issued of the clinic where the baby was born, or the so-called "U-Heft" which documents the early health examinations of the baby
  • prior to birth: copy of the page in the "Mutterpass" which shows the expected date of birth
  • the father's birth certificate

They will ask if you also want to declare the custody for the child or the maintenance/financial support, they ask for family status of the parents and maybe about the father's profession. Please keep in mind that you may need to organise a translator as well.

I hope this helps and don't hesitate to get back to us with any further questions.

All the best,

Meike
