Dear @Markbery2007,

Welcome to the Wefugees Community and thank you for reaching out to us.

According to the German "Münzgesetz"  (§3 (1) MünzG) no one is obliged to accept more than 50 coins. However, this also does not mean that stores need to accept up to 50 coins in any case. If the management decides that taking so many coins disturbs the processes in the shop, it is their right to introduce an individual policy.

Please keep also in mind that getting in touch with cash is also a potential health risk for staff in these days. You may want to consider to change your coins in a respective machine in a bank.

Please get back to us with any further questions.

All the best,

Meike

Thank you so much Meike for explaining and sorry for late response.
The coins I had were not uptil  20 and  I've been shopping in this supermarket for 4yrs, she could be little bit polite to till me that its because of the Pandemic I'll understand. In the other hand they can give coins to us and we can not give to them back. Thanks again.
Best Regards
Marcel.

Hello Markbery2007,

a supermarket has the right to reject payment with too many coins, that means more than 50 coins - in normal times.

The problem now is, that the WHO recommended cashless payments, as there is still no final proof that Covid19 is not transmitted through coins and bank notes. Therefore some supermarkets refuse to accept cash at all.
