Here you can ask, answer and find questions surrounding the topic: arriving in Germany
I'm traveling from Dubai to Bangkok transiting The Netherlands. Is it possible to apply for protection/asylum in The netherlands as transit? If so, what's the procedure? Is there a link to share? I'm from Yemen living in Dubai.

I will be traveling with my wife and kids, and this will be the last resort I'm making, It's a huge leap/very desperate measure tat I'm taking and I do not have the luxury of an alternative so an accurate response will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Dear @Rossiu,

Thank you for sharing your situation with us and welcome to the Wefugee Community!

Unfortunately, I am not very familiar with the Asylum policies/procedures in the Netherlands, but I found this website on which the so-called border procedure is described

I also read, that for citizens from some countries (i.e. Afghanistan) the Netherlands will ask for a special transit-visa, in order to be allowed to stopover in the Netherlands. However and as far as I could see, the list did not include citizens from Yemen.

In Germany, the protection rate for refugees from Yemen is quite high. The following website also gives numbers for refugees from Yemen in the Netherlands (though I am not sure about its reliability)

In any case, I would recommend you to contact a refugee supporting organisation in the Netherlands to get information and advice.

If you have issues to find one, please let us know. I would be happy to make some further research.

I wish you good luck, a safe trip and all the best!

Kind regards,
