Hi @Sandy
if it is true, that you crossed a red light, even a Rechtsschutzversicherung can't prevent you from your ticket. (none of them)
Rechtsschutzversicherung is for the case that you get a ticked for something that is not true or correct. In this cases the insurance pays for your lawyers costs. For example if your ticket says that the traffic light was red for longer than it actually was, or that you endangered someone, when you didn't. - starting with a pedestrian having to jump aside, for example - you risk a custodial sentence of up to five years in addition to a fine, points and driving licence revocation.
@Nilab: In general the Rechtsschutzversicherung covers all fields, but for the current situation it will not apply, as the Versicherung starts to cover situations arising after signing the contract.
This is not true. You can get a Verkehrs-Rechtsschutzversicherung that covers attorney and court costs, even if the incident occurred up to three months ago (for example with ARAG)
If you ask me: I would wait for the letter and if it is worse than expected get a Verkehrs-Rechtsschutzversicherung to try to get a fair penalty.
All the best and fingers crossed,
Laura
