The "Sparkasse"-agencys (the bank with the red S in the logo) in Berlin-Wilmersdorf and Berlin-Lichtenberg have a special refugee-service since a few days. You need a passport oder another official document from a German agency to identify yourself. If it's possible, call the agency for an appointment. Germans love appointments :-).

Here is the link to the agency Lichtenberg: https://***.berliner-sparkasse.de/module/ihre_sparkasse/filialfinder/index.php?n=%2Fmodule%2Fihre_sparkasse%2Ffilialfinder%2F#details/143

Good luck!

In Sparkasse are often for refugees possible ro open an account WITHOUT passport, but this is allowed by the BaFin in the last three weeks and I dont know the date each Sparkasse begins to offer this service to the people. In Köln it works since some days.

I just found a few Information about this. (Also Sparkasse)

"In order to open a bank account, each customer needs
suitable identity and legitimation documents. You need
to show one of the following documents to the consultant
of the Sparkasse:
‡ a passport
‡ an ID-card, issued by a German authority
‡ a passport replacement document, issued by a German
authority
‡ a preliminary residence title for specific purposes,
if this includes personal information and a photo
‡ an exceptional leave to remain, issued by a German
authority, if this includes personal information and a
photo"

you can find more about it here:

Hello,

my suggestion is a little bit late, but maybe it helps anyway:
You find a survey of bank accounts with low fees and account conditions here: ****://tinyurl.***/gqlgkx2
Some accounts can be opened online.
