My spouse received a residence permit acc. to 28 (1) even that I am not German - is this right?

My spouse got her permit and was given“28 Abs 1 S 1 NR 1” Am surprised because it’s meant for people married to German citizens. I am not a German citizen. I have 19 Abs 1 Nr 1 ivm 26? We are both US citizens. Is this right?

You are right - this is strange as the section 28 (1) no 1 of the German Residence Act (AufenthG) is indeed exclusively for the spouse of a German citizen. You came as an employee of a company with a branch in Germany, right?

I would recommend to contact the immigration office for clarification.
