Hello Wefugees,

Thank you so much for the good work you are doing in clearing our doubts while we live in Germany!!! I really appreciate!

In saying so, I am 35 and came from the so called a "third world country". I moved to Germany to study and I have already graduated. I have a job seeker visa now and I am working as a Federal Volunteer services. I am finishing my volunteer role soon and would like to do an "Ausbildung".

I have got two consecutive offers in one organization. One is to work as "Pflegehilfer" for some months while working on my German. TAfterwards, to do an "Ausbildung" as "Pflegefachmann". My German is A2 to B1 level but no certificate and the organization have German programs to attend during the "Ausbildung" period.

Am I legally allowed to work as a "Pflegehilfer" and to do the "Ausbildung"?  Can I change my visa from job seeker to "Ausbildung" ?

Thank you in advance!

Regards,

Kebur

Dear @kb,

Welcome to the Wefugees Community and thank you for your kind words!

I am not an expert in this particular field of the foreigners law, but I tried to make some research. For me it is not totally clear if you are currently holding a residence permit according to section 19c (1) being in your Social/Voluntary Year or actually hold a job seekers residence permit according to section 20 (3). However, according to this table by the GGUA you should be able to receive a residence permit for completing vocational training ("Ausbildung") according to section 16a of the German Residence Act in both situations.

Am I right on this, dear @mbeon-fardeen?

In any case, please don't hesitate to get back to us with any further questions.

All the best,

Meike
