I was granted as a refugee on 2020. I got my resident permit for 3 years, and it was expired on 05/02/2023.

I tried to contact Frankfurt immigration Authority of Frankfurt 2 times. first time 1 month before its expired and second time a week.

now I didn't get any reply from them? is that normal? and I'm allowed to Travel or no? if no, Can I get some kind of temporary document allowing me to Travel? because its an emergency in France.

thank you

Dear @kariimde,

Welcome back to the Wefugees Community and thank you for reaching out to us.

Did you contact the immigration office (Ausländerbehörde) via Mail? If no, you should definitely send them an Email so that you can prove that you tried to get an appointment for the extension of your residence permit. Unfortunately, it is rather normal in these days that immigration offices have a high workload and procedures may take longer than they should. With the expired residence permit I would not take the risk and travel/leave Germany. The immigration office can issue a so-called "Fiktionsbescheinigung" (fictional certificate) in case the issuance of the renewed residence permit takes longer. With a "Fiktionsbescheiniung" you may be able to travel (depending on the type - please see this thread for more details).

Maybe a migration counselling office ("Migrationsberatung" or Flüchtlingsberatung" can support you in contacting the immigration office as well. Please let us know if you need help in finding a respective office in Frankfurt or if you have any further questions.

All the best,

hi @Melke, Thank you so much for reply.
yes I contacted them via email 2 times. first one 1 month before the ID expire. second time a week before its expire. and no reply.

and yes please help me to find an office to contact here in Frankfurt, thank you so much
@Melke hi again, can you I request the Fiktionsbescheinigung  via email?
Dear @kariimde, Sorry for the late reply. Somehow I didn’t see your comment. Please use this search engine (https://adressen.asyl.net/language/en/welcome-to-informationnetwork-asylum-and-migration/) to find a counseling office close-by. I’m afraid that the immigration office will not issue a Fiktionsbescheinigung via Email. However, it is important that you can prove (i.e. through a sent email) that you are trying to get an appointment. Regards, Meike
