There are some professional fields in which you have a chance to make an "Ausbildung" (vocational training) without your school-leaving certificate correspond to either the German "Hauptschulsabschluss" or the "Realschulabschluss". Just be aware that the options will probably be rather limited (jobs like cook, horticulturist, painter and decorator, coiffeur etc.). However, there are several ways to make the i.e. "Hauptschulabschluss" as well - you could visit evening classes, for instance. This would allow you even to work while catching up with your formal degree.
