Dear wefugees,

I have just read about the new law which is passed or discusses last week and it’s written that those people who are living in Germany since 5 years will get one year residency from January 2022. My question is that  Is this law is passed from German parliament or not ?

The parliaments hasn't met to deliberate on it yet, but hopefully before Dec ending.  Then if all things go well, it shall be signed into law and takes effect. But until that happens,  its just a plan from the incoming government. And for now, we don't know the conditions that would be attached to the beneficiaries. It could be for only the tolerated with duldung living in Germany for 5 years, or even consider the rejected asylum seekers living in Germany illegally over 5 years. We don't know yet. This is what I understand, though am not a lawyer

You are right @Donmorris! We have to be patient and need to wait for the actual approval and implementation of potential new laws before we can discuss any details. Thank you for your contribution! Best, Meike
