Can I move to another place before or while I receive unemployment benefits ("Arbeitslosengeld")?

Hello. I work in munchen.  But right now I want to rent house in Halle Saale 06110.   I would like to apply for arbeitslosengeld 11 from Halle,   is that possible since I dint work there?

I remember that we discussed some aspects of the Arbeitslosengeld 1 and 2 already in your last thread (I am sick and want to quit my job - will I receive "Arbeitslosengeld" (unemployment benefits)?), right?

Could you find out if you are currently entitled to receive "Arbeitslosengeld 1" from the Agentur für Arbeit? While receiving Arbeitslosengeld 1, you are allowed to move to another place. Please don't forget to contact and inform the Agentur für Arbeit initially responsible for your file and the office at your new place as well. As mentioned in my answer on your last question, a so-called "Sperrzeit" may apply in case you can not convince the Agentur für Arbeit that you had a profound and serious reason to quit your job.

For people receiving "Arbeitslosengeld 2" from the Jobcenter, it is more difficult to move to another place and even to move to another appartment and the Jobcenter usually wants to see very good reasons for this step. In this case, I would always recommend to contact a counselling office ("Sozialberatung" or "Migrationsberatung") to get more individual advice and support.
