If you arrive at the airport in Dublin from an airplane  with your passport not having a valid visa for Ireland. CAN YOU BE ABLE TO SEEK ASYLUM in Ireland.  That is,  you were smuggled into the plane from Africa . You transit Turkey since there are no security checks when transiting on same airline. Then you arrive the Dublin airport with your passport not having visa. Can you seek asylum or you will be deported immediately??

Dear @Teghen001

Thank you for sharing your question with the Wefugees Community!

First of all, to get smuggled in a plane sounds very risky and dangerous for me. I also do not know anyone who travelled to a country in this way.

Also, I am unfortunately not familiar with the Irish Asylum and Refugee procedures or rules.

According to international law, signatories of the Geneva Refugee Convention are obliged to examine a Asylum application before they would be allowed to deport in case of non-recognition.

However, we also know, that in Europe many countries and authorities not always adhere to that law and regulations in fact.

I found this Website by the Irish government for general information on the Irish immigration procedures. You may find some useful details here.

Otherwise please feel free to get back to us with further questions.

All the best,

Meike
