I didn't at any point go to Belgium, but only flew straight into Germany. Just to clarify.

Hello Marcus, thanks for sharing your question with us but the answer is yes, because before the Belgium embassy issue a Visa to anyone, you have to go through fingerprint process and with that fingerprint, Belgium becomes your first country in Europe to seek asylum. This case happened to my girlfriend in 2018 when she came to Germany with Spanish Visa direct from Africa to Germany. I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction.
