Here you can ask, answer and find questions surrounding the topic: arriving in Germany
Hello, I am a Protestant Pastor living in Venezuela, have my wife and haven pastoring a church for more than 5 years now. We have proof of this and also many videos assisting the people in need, children, and adults, but we constantly denounce the corruption and the tyranny rulers who are communist/socialist and preach atheism and paganism. After that, we have received a number of letters with a threatening message about murder. We have some legal identity papers denied at some post office because of our religious background and our stance. We fear for our lives since the messages that we have received had come through the email, text messaging, WhatsApp and newspaper. We want to live soon since we are afraid something could happen to us, also we are afraid that this government will stop Venezuelan immigrants at the airports.

Can we ask for religious asylum in Germany under this set of circumstances? We have legal documentation and valid passport now but after its expiration, we fear we will not able to get another one, also we may leave from another country since there is a new immigration police who are stopping and delaying Venezuelan opposition people to leave-.

Dear @c.nartatez,

thank you for your participation in the community. We are sorry for the situation you are in.

As for your question:

- you could apply anywhere under the Geneva Convention on the status of refugees for protection due to religious believes and activities(in your case as an pastor).

- you will have to proof that and the passport is good to have but not a must- if you have other documents that proof your identity like birth certificate that is good  as well.

I hope we could assist you, we wish you good luck nad if you hvae further question please do not hesitate to contact us.

Best regards,
