The decision on your asylum application is based on law.
In some cases your country of origin does play a role because there are a few so-called "safe countries of origin" (Sicherer Herkunftsstaat). If you are from one of these your application will be denied automatically. If not, BAMF (or the judge that decides on your appeal) takes a **** at your case in detail and listens to your personal story. If your story is plausible and coherent and if you can provide convincing evidence that your life is in danger in your home country you will be granted a legal status to protect you.
There is statistics about the rate of acceptance of refugees from different countries. Depending on the situation in said countries there is variation in the numbers amongst these statistics. But it's important to keep in mind that these statistics do not build ground for the decisions by authorities. In fact they are just the cumulated quantitative result of authority's decisions.
Officials or judges are just human beings too. But Germany is a state founded on the rule of law. If you have been treated unfair by government officials, judges etc. you can file an action against them on a higher level of jurisdiction.
