I have lived in Germany for almost 6 years, first with a Duldung and then with § 104c residence permit. I will, hopefully, receive the § 25b residence permit beginning of next year.

I have also been working in a STEM field with a ZAB certified degree for the past 4.5 years.

The permanent residency requirement is for the applicant to have lived in Germany with a residence permit for a minimum of 5 years.

Will the time I have spent under Duldung and § 104c count towards this requirement, or will the clock reset upon issuance of § 25b?

Hello Nemo, the years which you were on Duldung don’t count.Resident permit 104C is one and half years long and they count towards the settlement permit

Dear @Nemo

I agree with Mashkoko, the time you are holding the residence permit according to section §104c ("Chancen-Aufenthaltsrecht") should count as well regarding the minimum amount of years of residence required when you apply for the permanent settlement ("Niederlassungserlaubnis").

All the best, Meike
