Hello! Volunteers in Munich, could you please tell me about the accommodation situation? Are there any other options for temporary accommodation in Munich or nearby cities? Most of all from air b'n'b, are there any other offers? Or only gyms and similar temporary shelters like in other cities?

Hello @Kristina_MI

thank you for using Wefugees and welcome here.

You can register for private accomodation in Munich here (even before your arrival): https://***.t1p.de/flatsUAmuc.

If you arrive by train, the information point at the central station (Starnberger Bahnhof) will pass you over either to the organizations that arrange private accomodation or the social authorities responsible for emergency accomodation.

If you have already arrived, you can go to the Center for Refugees, Prielmayerstraße 1 (Munich Main Station, entry at side of "Blockhouse", 4th floor) for private accomodation, mostly in host families.

The situation is very dynamic. As for now, more than 80 percent of the refugees live in host families/privately rented flats, the rest in emergency accommodation or arrival centers. Both forms are mostly temporary and might be shifting quickly.

Please be careful where to stay - if you feel insecure or harassed, please call the police at once (110). More information for women can be found here: https://***.jadwiga-online.de/images/pdf/ukraine/Sicherheitsinfos-2022.pdf.

If you apply for a residence permit according to Section 24 of the Residence Act, the social authorities will cover the costs of your accommodation in case you're in need and cannot cover them by your own income or savings. Before renting a flat on your own, please notify the authorities. There are rent limits, depending on the number of persons, which can be found here: https://stadt.muenchen.de/infos/mietobergrenzen.html.

Hi there!

You can register your housing needs via the official Munich city portal. The volunteers who can offer you accommodation will be referred and checked by the city. Here is the link: https://docs.google.***/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf9Kuc0MAuUT0tw-yGvvl3lcsheN6XtRIWkB6gNaJTIC_av9g/viewform

Good luck! And we wish you all the best!
