Good Day, I came to Germany as an asylum in Bavaria in October 2014.  In April 2018, I married a German in Baden-Württemberg and received a residence permit (Aufenthaltstitel) .To make it short!  I spent 3 years and 6 months in asylum, while 2 years and 5 months in our happy married life currently going fine.
I had A2 certificate in the integration course and Leben in Deutschland certificate.  We currently live and work in Munich. My question is, I want to apply for German citizenship. Do i have the right to apply for a German citizenship? I will be appreciate any advice, opinions or links. Thanks in advance

Hello @Emmytender,

thank you for sharing your question with the Wefugees community.

Your prospects to obtain the german citizenship are fairly good.

Besides the naturalisation test, which you already passed recently, you have to meet a few further prerequisites.

- Try to pass the B1 certificate, A2 is not enough.

- Legal stay in Germany with a residence permit for three years (which will be the case after another 7 months)

- Sufficient health insurance (as you're working, you probably have one)

- Secured livelihood without assistance from the state (as you both working, this is seemingly the case)

- no criminal record

- valid passport

- willingness to refrain from your current nationality (in some cases, dual citizenship is allowed, hence just ask your local naturalisation office if this holds for you).

Your first step now is to make an appointment with your naturalisation authority. You'll then be given a list of all the documents you will have to submit.

Hi Christine, thanks for your quick reply. I have another question, am I eligible for permanent residence permit?

Yes, you're eligible for a permanent residence permit and the conditions are quite the same.
