Normally you have to wait 8 years, when you have a legal residence permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis, Niederlassungserlaubnis).
If you have the B1 certificate, the time will be reduced to 7 years,
with B 2 or higher possibly to 6 years.
Possession of a temporary residence permit at the time of naturalization is only sufficient if it was granted for a purpose that can in principle lead to permanent residence in Germany. That applies e.g. B. not with a residence permit required for a study, also for an education (Ausbildung).
