I have a 6 month Old baby, we don’t have a home anymore because they will kill us if we returned to our home country because they don’t allow religion changing or marrying someone from a different religion (our national IDs state different religions although we practice the same religion) and we are already in a different country after struggling so much.

Now I will be persecuted if I stayed where I am (I am already denied the right to live+work to support my child and the UNHCR doesn’t consider helping even our baby) because they have the same rules about changing religion.

They will take away my baby if I broke the visa and I cannot go anywhere currently because our passport doesn’t allow us to travel to almost every where considered safe.

I don’t know what to do anymore.

Dear @Marydoyouknow

Welcome to the Wefugees community and thank you for your reaching out to us.

First of all, I am very sorry to hear that you find yourself in such a difficult situation.

Our platform and our experts are based in Germany and we mainly discuss topics as residence and life in Germany.

However, if you want to share your location, I would try to make some research on human rights organizations or any kind of support possibilities close to your current place of stay.

Take care and all the best,

Meike

Hi,
We are currently in Malaysia, tried reaching out to the UNHCR and they said we are not a priority because of the passport we hold (Egyptian passport)
Both countries are Muslims and I cannot go to many of the other organisations around because they are ran by Muslim (Trying to contact Asylum Access here but it is difficult)
My case is kinda similar to Rahaaf the Saudi girl who was granted protection by UNHCR and Canada during 2019.

Dear @Marydoyouknow

Are there any updates on your situation?

Yes, when I made some research on organisations I also found "Asylum Access". Were you able to contact them in the meantime?

Following this link (****://***.refugeelegalaidinformation.org/malaysia-pro-bono-directory), you can find some more contact details of human rights NGOs.

I also read about the Rahaaf case you mentioned. She actually got supported by UNHCR when I am not mistaken. Did you officially apply for asylum there?

Take care and all the best,

Meike

Rahaaf was supported by the UNHCR for the same case as mine yet the UNHCR where I am did not even listen to me.
I contacted Asylum Access and they said we have to wait till the corona lockdown is over so they could see if it’s possible to help me or not.
The UNHCR in my very first visit and only visit I was allowed to enter to the building I was met by a long queue and at the end of it a lady sat behind glass and she acknowledged my case as a very dangerous case yet they as I could quote her (Egyptians are not their priority)
They don’t even know that I have a 6 months old baby who is denied many basic human rights at the moment because of our situation.
Link doesn’t work: The requested page "/malaysia-pro-bono-directory)," could not be found.

Dear @Marydoyouknow

I do not understand why the link sometimes does not work (****://***.refugeelegalaidinformation.org/malaysia-pro-bono-directory). Otherwise just type the key words "Malaysia" "pro bono" and "refugees" in google. The correct page should appear then.

I can imagine that the current corona crisis makes access to support for refugees even harder and I am very worried about it. I think you did good to talk to the UNHCR, also if they could not help you immediately. I cross my fingers that one of the oranisations provided on the before mentioned website can give you any advice.

I am so sorry that we can not do more from Germany. Nevertheless, we are happy to receive any updates from you. Please take care and I wish you all the best,

Meike
