Dear ladies and gentlemen,  I started my masters in germany with a valid student visa  but couldnt finish on time. I was very afraid and did not inform the Visa authority. Days passed by and went on upto 4 years unfortunately. Finally some of my friends came to know and  encouraged me to inform the authorities. I went to the auslanderamt imagining they will call the cops and put me in jail. To my surprise they simply said to leave the country by writing them a letter why I stayed illegally. I did not receive any official letter from the auslanderamt saying that I'm banned.  I left germany voluntarily this year but worried about my future now. I know I did a very huge mistake but that was not by choice. I had too much stress which affected my health living as illegal. Will there be any chance for me to apply for work visa in future?? I have the possibility to finish my studies now so I want to work in Germany sometime. Please let me know

Dear @Icebreaker,

Thank you for sharing your situation with the Wefugee Community and sorry for the late reply!

If you did not receive any ban to re-enter the country, I do not know why you shouldn't get another chance to get a work visa for Germany.

Do you know already the following website "Make it in Germany" by the German government? Maybe you will find some useful information there.

Good luck for your career and all the best,

Meike
