Something about you: Massage Therapy Work: Massage Therapy professionals provide therapeutic massage programs for sick, disabled, and injured people. Massage therapy programs are designed to reduce aches and pains, relieve emotional stress, improve joint and body flexibility, and reduce or limit physical disabilities. The work can take place in a hospital or clinic, or on location at the site of the client's home or office. Massages are also used by many people to provide a source of relaxation and to improve overall mental health.

Massage Therapy Skills: A massage therapist must have a strong understanding of the anatomy and nervous system of the human body. He or she also must have exceptionally strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to empathize with the client. The therapist must be able to integrate these skills to understand the physical and mental state of their client. This enables the therapist to implement a massage therapy program that can best help the patient improve their physical and emotional state.

Massage Therapy School Courses: Massage therapy schools offer a number of different background courses in anatomy, biology, chemistry, physiology, psychology, and more. Massage therapy schools also offer courses in the basic tools of the trade that can include training in massage techniques, the use of oils, aromatherapy, electro-stimulation, and other methods.

Massage Therapy Employment: Massage therapy jobs are expected to grow faster than the average as the current population is getting older, and people are developing a broader understanding of the role that massage can play in health and fitness. Most massage therapists work in hospitals, but about one in six massage therapy professionals work part time, and many hold other jobs. Other major employers include clinics, schools systems, nursing homes, adult daycare facilities, and more.
