I have resided in Germany since 2021, holding an Ausweis with 60b.  Authorities have recently located additional documentation, resulting in a correction to my Ausweis name and an indication that work authorization is subject to Ausländerbehörden approval.  To avoid deportation, I require clarification on the work permit process.  Will the authorities grant me permission to work?  Furthermore, if deportation proceedings commence, what recourse is available regarding outstanding payments(Remaining EMI) for my phone, laptop, and postpaid SIM card, 9all registered under my previous Ausweis name?

Dear @Sam.k,

Welcome at Wefugees and thank you for reaching out to us.

First of all, I am glad that you managed to get out of the so-called "Duldung light" (according to section 60b of the German Residence Act) since holding it has indeed disadvantages. Furthermore, it is important that you continue to integrate yourself in Germany if you would like to stay here in the future - working is an important part of it. However, I am afraid that work is not per se protecting you from measures by the immigration office to end your stay in Germany (this depends on many factors). I highly recommend to discuss your individual case at a refugee counselling office as well.

If your Duldung implicates now that you are allowed to work with the permission of the immigration office (Ausländerbehörde), it is a step forward. Please keep in mind that your work permit will be only valid for a specific job. Your future employer will need to fill a form to describe the offered position, and you should apply for a work permit at the immigration office. Handbook Germany states that "Once both forms have been filled and submitted, the immigration office is obliged to react within two weeks" (this information was new to me to be honest).

Can you maybe specify the second part of your question? I am afraid that I did not fully understand it yet.

Many thanks in advance and I hope this information are helpful

All the best,

Meike
