Can debts lead to a rejection of the naturalisation application (citizenship)?

Good day to everyone on these wonderful platform.  Please a friend came to me for an answer to a question but I tried to do more research over the question but couldn't come out with the answer.

Please I wish to know if someone is having debts and are always receiving letters from the inkasso and the law enforcement as he tries to solve the issue by accepting to pay all the debts on monthly payments.  Please I wish to know if this issue can cause his einbürgerung ( Germany Naturalization) application rejected. He has applied the german-citizenship through a lawyer and he thinks these issue of debts can cause his application rejected but I couldn't find the rightful answer and I wish to know if any one have an idea on this issues. Thank you.

Welcome back to the Wefugees Community and thank you for reaching out to us. 

Since for the naturalisation an applicant has to prove that he/she is ensuring the means of subsistence, the authorities probably have doubts that your friend can secure his livelihood in the future while having to pay all his debts. However, please consult the lawyer to know for sure about the reason for rejection (at the end he/she gets paid for taking care of this) - every case needs to be assessed individually.
