Hello wefugee team,
Please  I wish to know if the new immigration laws has been approved concerning applying for german citizenship and for children been born in Germany by a parents who has been in Germany for more than 7 to 8 years and working with resident permits. Thanks

Welcome back to the Wefugees Community and thank you for your question.

The planned changes in the naturalization law are, unfortunately, not implemented yet and the details are still discussed.

In the current law, at least one parent needs to have stayed (legally) in Germany for a minimum amount of 8 years and needs to hold a permanent residence permit (a "Niederlassungserlaubnis" for instance) at the time of the child's birth. This regulation is called "Geburtsortprinzip". Usually, the family is informed by the local registry office in case they meet the mentioned requirements.
