Hello team, I have few questions to ask:
1. My child passport is expired and I was told by German authorities to apply for new passport through my home country embassy. I live in Germany under subsidiary protection with my child. I would like to ask if I'm allowed to be in contact or visit  my home country embassy,  Is there any risks if I do apply that passport to my home country embassy?

2. Again I'm planning to travel to France with my child but he has ausweis ( residence permit) only, can he travel to France? His passport was expired and is not renewed yet.

Dear Malcolm, we are glad that you continue to visit us with your questions on Wefugees. As far as I know there should be no problem with contacting the embassy of your home country. But since I am not sure, I will link our experts here: @mbeon-fardeen. Maybe you dear Fardeen can help with this question? Thank you very much for your efforts! Saskia
Regarding the passport, I believe that if you have applied for a new one, you should get a temporary one with which you are allowed to travel even if the actual passport has not been issued yet. @Meike would you agree with me here?
Also: Please be aware that you may have to apply for a visa for the destination country. Whether you will be issued the respective visa depends on various factors such as your country of origin, your situation in Germany etc. - so it is difficult to predict the result of your visa application.

Dear @Malcolm,

Welcome back to the Wefugees Community and thank you for reaching out to us.

With the subsidiary protection status, you are allowed and even obliged to (with rare exceptions) apply for a national passport at your country of origin's embassy. For recognized refugees, however, a visit/requested service at the embassy jeopardizes their refugee status and the residence permit in Germany.

I don't know if the embassy responsible for you is issuing temporary passports. I know that there is such a service available from German authorities, but I am afraid it is way more complicated at embassies.

And yes, your son needs a passport to travel to France - we discussed a very similar question here before. The good news is, however, that you don't need a visa to travel within the EU for up to 90 days.

I hope this helps and all the best,

Meike

Dear Malcom,

the dear @Meike has already answered a similar question, here the link: https://***.wefugees.de/813081/travel-abroad-residence-permit-according-section-deportation?show=813081#q813081
Maybe this can already help you?
Otherwise, we stay tuned until you have found an answer :)

"With a residence permit according to section 25 (3) of the German Residence Act (deportation ban) you are allowed to travel abroad, given that you are holding a valid travel document (national passport or a travel document for foreigners). Please be aware that you may have to apply for a visa for the destination country. Whether you will be issued the respective visa depends on various factors such as your country of origin, your situation in Germany etc. - so it is difficult to predict the result of your visa application. I recommend to contact the Turkish embassy or a consulate (there are several consulates all over Germany) to get more information. Travelling to your country of origin would risk your status in Germany though.

I hope this helps and don't hesitate to get back to us with any further questions."

All the best,

Saskia
