"InfoMigrants" - a new information source for refugees
The German broadcasting company "Deutsche Welle" (DW) and partner companies from France and Italy have launched a news portal for refugees. The aim is to expose factually inaccurate stories and misleading statements spread by human smugglers and traffickers, said DW program director Gerda Meuer.
"InfoMigrants" is reporting in English, Arabic and French, relying not only on a website but on social networks as well. The content will concentrate news from refugee's origin, transit and target countries. Cooperation partners of the DW are "France Médias Monde", the international broadcaster of France and "Ansa", an Italian news agency.
The project's financing is initially guaranteed for the next 14 months. A slimmed down version of "InfoMigrants" website is already only, the final release is exptected to be online in May.
