We've been discussing what words to use when writing up documents: asylum seekers and refugees are legally different, guests doesn't sound like there's equality in the living situation, immigrant is probably not the best word to use considering the political situation here. I read a post somewhere where an asylum seeker said he'd like to be referred to as a "newcomer". We're working on a guide of what language to use, it would be really great to know how other teams have approached this. #language #press #respect

Good question! We use the term "Geflüchtete" (which is not exactly refugee but a little bit more elevated) or "geflüchtete Person". I like the idea of "newcomer" and think you can definitely use this term...
I would encourage you to use the project as well to establish (or question) the usual use of terms.
