Citizenship in Germany

Question

Hello, 

I am Living in Germany since 2010 (came for Masters degree). I have permanent residency since 2016 and my wife also has permanent residency since 2022. I married in Pakistan in 2014 and my wife came to Germany on Family reunion visa in mid of 2015. We had our first child in 2016 (Born in Germany). 

Now, I want to apply for a Citizenship along with my#0782c1;"> family. My question is:

- If apply citizenship with my Family, Do my marriage has to be registered in Germany ?

- Secondly, Is it better for my wife to apply separately ? and me along with my daughter.

thank you for sharing your question with the Wefugees Community.

You usually do not have to register your marriage in Germany because when you brought your wife through a family reunification, it has already been done. In addition, if you and your family have completed the requirements for the citizenship, I see no reasons, why your wife should apply separately. So, your wife can also apply for it together with you.
