Are there age limits to start an internship or for university?

I am from Lebanon. How exactly does the regulation with the age work? Am I allowed to start an apprenticeship when I am 25 years old or older? Is there an age-limit at university?

You can study at any age. But going to university does not extend the residence permit status. Apprenticeships do so because they are linked to a certain profession and the idea is that you will work in that field later on. Studies, in contrast, are too unspecific and are not leading directly to a particular job.

You are from Lebanon so the chances to get a positive result are probably quite low. That is why I highly recommend to start studies or an apprenticeship. The only requirement that needs to be fulfilled for that is that you got a permission for that in your secondary regulations. Then you can search for a company that offers you a training. The Duldung for Ausbildung does not give any age limits.

And what do you think about which type of work is fitting best for me? Which factors should I take into consideration and what happens to the money that I get from the jobcenter or the Lageso?

That always depends on what you want. If you can/want to work a lot than you can get a full-time job of course. But if you are taking German classes at the same time (which are really important in the long-term perspective) than you should definitely finish them. A part-time job could be an option for you in this case.

Concerning the benefits of Lageso/Jobcenter: when you start a job of course they will pay you less so that the amount of money you will find on your bank account will in some cases not change that much. But on the other hand it is very important to get some practical experience with a job in order to gain ground for a future perspective.

When you are self-employed it is the same. You can earn 180 Euro on top of the benefits from Lageso/Jobcenter. Every extra Euro will be taken into account when they calculate your benefits which will result in less money by the authorities. In the “worst” case your job will completely counterbalance your benefits which is the point where you should **** for a better paid job to earn more money than the authorities paid you before.
