Where can I bring clothes I don't need anymore? submitted by Laura23 in How can I help?

Hello everyone,

I'm reading in this Community for a while now and really appreciate what you are doing here. A lot of answers helped me as well, as I could answer questions from my friends with it. :)
Today I actually have a question I need your help with.
A friend of mine is moving to an other apartment and used this to have a deeper look at her clothes. So she would like to donate it to our new neighbors in Germany.
But is this still needed? And where in Berlin can she bring her stuff? Or find an actual list what is needed? The lists I found are nearly all from 2015...

Thanks a lot.
Laura

Hello Laura23,

Clothing donation is still needed. Used Clothes are still of real value, there are even commercial collections at least once a month in major cities.

Places in Berlin where clothing donations serve socially minded purpose:

Caritasverband Berlin:

Abgabe (Open): Montag bis Freitag von 9-13.00 Uhr direkt in der Kleiderkammer, sonst am Empfang in der Residenzstr. 90 (Mo-Do 8-17 Uhr, Fr. bis 8-15 Uhr)

Kleiderkammer, speziell für Kinder (clothes espeically for children),
Pfalzburger Str. 18, 10719 Berlin, Tel. 030-666 339 62.
Abgabe (Open): Montag bis Freitag 10-13 Uhr, Dienstag und Donnerstag zusätzlich 15-16:30 Uhr

Contact Caritas Kleiderkammer Berlin:
Mrs. Irena Urban
Residenzstr. 90, Eingang Reginhardstr
13409 Berlin
Telefon: 030 666 33-1045
Mail: i.urban@caritas-berlin.de

Thanks a lot Jan :) I will call them. So there are noch Refugee Camps anymore collecting them? Thanks a lot
Laura23
There are clothes recycling skips as well. Here's a list of some: bit.ly/2aexmJA. Red Cross and Caritas do support refugees in Germany all over the country, by choosing these organisations your donation will surely reach refugee camps too if clothing is needed.

Laura23, the humanitarian organisation Islamic relief also asks for clothing donation: bit.ly/2aeydcZ
Jan

Dear Laura,

I know that Kreuzberg hilft for example is giving their "Spenden" to camps that do not have the capacity to take them theirselfs. You find their list of what they need
here: kreuzberg-hilft.com/bedarf...

Mariannenplatz 1
10997 Berlin-Kreuzberg

Spendenannahme:
Dienstag – Freitag, 12 – 17:30 Uhr
Samstag, 12 – 15 Uhr

If you want to give it directly to "Tempelhof" for example, you can also bring them to Kreuzberghilft but tell them to give it to tempelhof and check their own list first: docs.google.com/spreadshee...

Best
Marie
