Hi, i come to germany on student visa in September 2020. I’m a transgender and i come from pakistan. i think i cannot pursue my education because my current course is totally irrelevant to my previous education. I tried to study this or getting admission anywhere else but it is not happening. I just come for this course because i wanted to leave pakistan on any cost as i had faced alot of discrimination, threats and abuse all my life. And I’m living in germany since 1 year. I’m going to psychologist and endocrinologist for my transition. Now after my decision for transition my family in pakistan is opposing me and i don’t feel safe going back. Also pakistan gives no legal rights to transgenders and there is no freedom there. I have got my residence permit until October 2022 in germany. I want to apply asylum here. I already have my insurance, work permit, tax id, bank account in germany. I’m also availing student loan from kfw which i will definitely return in instalments after losing student status. I feel freedom here and i want to get asylum. So what would be the legal procedure i need to follow to apply asylum? Where would i go for my case? What would happen to my bank account, tax id and other documents that i already have?

Dear @Xees3013,

Welcome to the Wefugees Community and sorry for the delayed reply.

Unfortunately, I am not very experienced with similar cases, but I know that there are numerous counselling offices in Germany supporting transgender refugees. On this website, you can search for a respective office close to your current location. Since you have a residence permit which is valid for longer than 6 months, you can apply for asylum in a written form at the BAMF in Nürnberg. But I am sure the counselling office can also support you in this. Regarding your other question, I can't see any reason, why the asylum application should affect your bank account our your tax ID. So don't worry about this.

I wish you all the best and please don't hesitate to get back to us with any further questions.

Regards,

Meike
