Hi All,

I am a refugee living in DE with my wife and 5-year-old child. We have got our unlimited visa as of yet.

My wife and I are contemplating a divorce. My question is, what happens to her (visa-related legal status) when we get a divorce. We came to DE together and applied for asylum based on my problems, and the country is not in any war or something for the general people.

I hope you people can give me a heads-up regarding the situation.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers.

Hello,

Meike is right, if the wife has a Niederlassungserlaubnis, she can stay in Germany after divorce.

As you came to Germany together I presume she had the same status as you from the very beginning.

Dear @MahmudulMunshi

Welcome back to the Wefugees Community and thank you for reaching out to us again.

Do I understand correctly that both you and your wife hold a permanent residence permit (Niederlassungserlaubnis)?

In that case, I don't see a reason why a divorce could have an influence on her status in Germany (as long she continues to live here and won't be abroad for more than 6 months).

Am I right on this dear @alla_fka

Best wishes, Meike
