Dear @Yaba,

Thank you for reaching out to the Wefugees Community again!

For information on the marriage procedure in Germany, please check our blog, which provides details on the requirements, as i.e. the necessary documents. In general, marrying is not dependent on a residence permit, but many asylum-seekers in fact struggle to provide certain papers.

If you will be asked to apply for a spouse visa from your country of origin, will unfortunately depend on the local Ausländerbehörde (as it is at their discretion), as far as I know. Maybe it makes sense to consult a lawyer in this. He or she could support you in formulating the reasons, why it would be very difficult for you to travel back/leave Germany.

I hope this helps and don’t hesitate to get back to us with any further questions.

All the best,

Meike
