I have a few German friends and they have invited me to a Christmas dinner at their home. I would like to do something nice for them. What should I bring? food, presents...? How does this work?

If you are able to craft something, I think that would be a really honest present for your friends. So, Do-it-yourself is my advice!

Hello Ahbish, what a wonderful gesture! I can only give you the advise to make some food from your country! My experience is that most Germans love new food and especially when its selfmade. I assume you are from an arabic country, so a tasty desert like baclava or 'knafa' would make everyone happy, for sure!

just bring what you think they would like. Christmas tradition has changed a lot, so we don't have traditional gifts. Just give your present a personal toch, that's what I try to do, it doesn't matter what size or price your donation has. You are totally free, that's a problem for Germans too. I don't know which country you come from, maybe you bring something that has a relation to it.

Hope I could help

Hi..  every family has their own special way to celebrate christmas. Sometimes only the children get presents, sometimes everybody has a gift for everyone. I don't think that your friends expect a gift from you. :-)

What a lot of people here forget is what christmas is about. It's about love! Not about presents :-)
Thank you Anni82, I agree
